Mounting this exhibition required the expertise of Jagos and Huberty, who will share their profound knowledge of the typewriters on view as well as insights into the meticulous planning of the show. Come gain a deeper insight into the machines’ fascinating history and the process of exhibition productions. After the discussion, there will be a Q&A.

JOE JAGOS

Exhibition Coordinator

  • Joseph Jagos is an American Artist/photographer, researcher, and educator born in Flint, Michigan, and has been based in NYC since 2007. He does not have a single style or medium and works with materials that complement the vision. In today’s world of declining regional identity, he has been conducting research investigating common and fine art objects present in a world advancing toward global identity. Through the creation and acts of hyper-consumption, hyper landscapes, and luxury products, this global identity can be witnessed coalescing. His research has led him to 10 different cities in China documenting and writing about how and where the bulk of our disconnected identities are manufactured. Since 2019 he has been a professor at Parsons The New School. As an educator, he contributes by creating curriculum for technical workshops and lecturing on examining the deeper foundational structure of images, experiential environments, photography, and fashion illustration. Absurdism often plays a role in his approach.

LIAM HUBERTY

  • Liam Huberty is a writer, artist, and administrative assistant. He’s worked for several art centers in the Hamptons, including The Church, the Watermill Center, and Duck Creek Arts. Liam’s personal endeavors include writing nonfiction and short stories, as well as tabletop game design.
