Meet illustrator, artist, and entrepreneur, Noelle Giddings and join us as we dive into her unique experience, exploring an artistic world of comic books, ready-for-television art, and more. Noelle is a treasure trove of insight and wisdom for young, aspiring artists! Her career trajectory has been one of a kind, leading her from comics and cartoons to roles in education and newly created positions within the entertainment industry. Come along as we explore how one woman said “yes” to opportunity and learned to pivot and transform along the way. Following the discussion there will be a Q&A.
Breaking into a male-dominated field, Noelle was one of the few female comic book artists for DC and Marvel. Spider-Man, Batman, Superman — Noelle illustrated some of the most memorable characters we know and love. She was also a founding member of Milestone Media, the first and only comic book company dedicated to creating a more culturally diverse comic universe. In addition to working in the much-loved genre, her work on animated Disney and Nickelodeon programs, including Doug, has been a source of joy for many growing up. She has created original art pieces for television and movie sets and has published children’s books and a graphic novel, too.

A career artist for more than 30 years, Noelle graduated from Parsons School of Design and spent more than 15 years as one of the few female artists for DC and Marvel Comics, illustrating such titles as Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman. She then served as Art and Color Editor of the first multicultural comic book company, Milestone Media. Noelle was an animator for Disney and Nickelodeon, co-illustrated a graphic novel and two children’s books (with a third soon to be published), worked on commissions ranging from wakeboard designs to an award-winning wine label, wall murals, graphic and logo design, and taught “Illustration and Comic Book Art” at the Cooper Hewitt International Design Museum. In 2011 she entered the film and television industry and began creating original cleared art for CBS, Showtime, and FX. Her ability to infuse each piece with the aesthetic sensibility of any period, movement, or school —from Old Masters to contemporary art — and complete the work quickly has helped her thrive in the business. Noelle actively works on commissions, from portraits to landscapes, for private collections, and her own work, honoring her history in comics, has been featured in galleries, juried art shows, and, recently, a four-page feature in American Art Collector.
