Knowledge Friday with Sag Harbor Native Nancy Remkus

“What I’m trying to do here is inspire people to live their best lives, enjoy life, and do more of the things they love,” says Nancy Remkus, ordained interfaith minister and current pastor of the Old Whalers’ Church here in Sag Harbor. We joined in a celebration of community and inspiration as our series continued. Remkus, a beloved former teacher, pillar of the community, and singer-songwriter, will spoke about her work here and the inspiration she draws from our seaside town. Remkus served Sag Harbor for thirty years as an elementary school teacher and infused her love of music and the arts into the creation of the “Morning Program,” a much-loved program students remember well into adulthood. As a former trustee of the Sag Harbor Historical Society, Remkus spoke about the history of this town from a place of personal experience and expertise. Known on the East End for her music and performance, Remkus reminded us all, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” Won’t you be our neighbor?
