Jenny Xie

Jenny Xie is the author of Holding Pattern (Riverhead Books), a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree and New York Times Editor’s Pick. Her short fiction has appeared in AGNI, Ninth Letter, Joyland, Adroit Journal, Narrative, The Offing, and the Best of the Net Anthology, among other publications. Her writing on design, travel, and culture has been featured in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Architectural Digest, Apartment Therapy, Them, and Dwell, where she was previously the Executive Editor. Xie holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Johns Hopkins University and is the grateful recipient of fellowships from Bread Loaf, MacDowell, Yaddo, Kundiman, Aspen Words, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Loghaven, and other organizations.
While in residence, Xie will continue research and outline for her second novel, a work of speculative fiction that questions family dynamics, gender roles, the model minority myth, and the authenticity of human experience and art in the age of AI.
