Mira Dougherty-Johnson
July 4th - 24th
Mira Dougherty-Johnson writes about complicated, artistic families with messy inheritances. As a librarian, she is especially interested in how narratives are passed down. Mira earned her MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Stony Brook Southampton and was an SBU BookEnds fellow in 2018. Her work has been recognized by AROHO, Disquiet International, Fourth Genre, Glimmer Train, The Missouri Review, The Southampton Review, The Southeast Review, Southern Indiana Review, Tupelo Quarterly, and Vela. She has held residencies at Bread Loaf, Eckerd College, the Key West Literary Seminar, Tin House, Vermont College of Fine Arts, and Wolff Cottage.
Dougherty-Johnson is particularly interested in exploring how the power of art can be used to create new narratives. While in residence, she will further develop works of literature that pertain to this theme.
