Join artist Toni Ross for an intermediate workshop on the practice and technique of weaving with a small handheld loom! The class is for those with some weaving experience and those who participated in Toni’s prior workshops. This workshop will begin with a recap of skills, going over how to properly warp a loom and remove and finish a woven work, before delving into more advanced techniques. In this session, participants will be introduced to several new stitches and learn techniques to create precise geometric patterns, free-form designs, and how to incorporate transparency into a weaving. Ross will also present a slideshow highlighting key influences and samples of her own recently completed work.
Yarn and a selection of fibers will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring any of their own yarns, ribbons, or fabrics they would like to incorporate. Participants are welcome to bring in-progress weavings as well.
Please note: We will be using the looms previously provided in our Intro to Weaving class. If you require a new loom, please reach out to samuel@thechurchsagharbor.org
