Join artist Toni Ross for an introductory class on the practice and technique of weaving with a small hand-held loom! During this three-hour session, participants will learn the basics of weaving, including how to make and warp a loom, tabby weaving, rya knots, interlocking and non-interlocking techniques, how to finish and remove a work, tuck in loose threads, and more! Throughout the day, Toni will discuss her preferred tools and materials while providing an exclusive look into the practice and technique behind her own projects. A variety of reference books will also be made available.
All necessary materials and equipment are included in the cost of admission and can be taken home following the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring materials from home that can be incorporated into the weavings. Such materials include yarn, twine, raffia, ribbon, and shredded fabrics.

Toni Ross is a multi-disciplinary artist using time-honored material and site-responsive installation to explore themes of political and social distress. Born and raised in New York City, Toni attended Wesleyan University where she studied ceramics and fine art, graduating with a BA in Film Studies. Her practice embraces fiber, installation, sculpture, and works on paper. Toni has participated in artist residencies as a two-time Patricia Highsmith-Plangman Fellow at Yaddo and at The Watermill Center. She is a founding member of the artist collective No W here, whose second exhibition, Now Here, presented by Guild Hall: Offsite, was on view at the Amagansett U.S. Life-Saving Station Museum in summer 2022.
