Taylor Barton and G.E. Smith, the musical couple that produces the A-List series Portraits, return to The Church this fall with an inspiring event! Join us as we gather together for an intimate evening of original songs, writings, and folklore that is bound to provoke thoughtful conversations.
With over thirty years in the music industry and a wealth of experience, memories, and stories to share, the couple joins forces to present a stellar evening that takes audiences on an insightful journey. Taylor will read snippets from her music memoir I Pitched a Tent in Hell, present sections from her new novel, Condom Eddie, and unveil new music from her EP, Get Off My Ship. G.E. will frame, exemplify, and expand on Taylor’s interesting set of songs and stories. Join us as we celebrate the East End couple that work effervescently together.

Producer and curator, Taylor Barton is a smart, multi-talented, singer-songwriter, writer, and film producer. Her film, 50-Watt Fuse, documenting GE’s career as a sideman, was an Official Selection of the Mill Valley Film Festival featuring cameos from Lorne Michaels, Jimmy Buffett, to Bob Dylan and Hall & Oates. She has had exposure and been deeply influenced by an array of performers from Dylan to the Avett Bros. Rolling Stone calls her beguiling. She has released 9 solo CD’s and a novel, Hotheaded Saints, and just published Pedro ‘n’ Pip, which was licensed by Discovery Education. She launched PORTRAITS in East Hampton, NY.

G.E. Smith is a master guitarist who has played lead guitar, for Hall & Oates, Bob Dylan and bass for Roger Waters in the WALL LIVE as well as many others. He served ten years as the musical director of Saturday Night Live where he won an Emmy. He was the host for the Smithsonian’s HISTORY OF THE ELECTRIC GUITAR and played many times at the Kennedy Center, and all over the world for dignitaries and Presidents. He's the ultimate sideman. GE Smith, a supreme musicologist, explores his passion for R & B while highlighting his guests’ musical ideology. ‘Live’ in front of an audience, GE Smith hosted and launched PORTRAITS from its inception at Guild Hall and Bay Street.
