Still, Small Voice: A Twice-Monthly Gathering for Reflection and Contemplative Sharing

  • The Church 48 Madison Street Sag Harbor, NY, 11963 United States (map)

This program is free, open to the public, and requires no RSVP.

The Church invites you to Still, Small Voice, a twice-monthly gathering for reflection and contemplative sharing.

May 26th Query: How should a tolerant person, or society, engage intolerant people?

In the style of a traditional Quaker meeting, each iteration of Still, Small Voice will center around an organizing question about creativity, community, and being human in the 21st century. The format of the meeting is unprogrammed and anchored in silence, but receptive to the insights of all participants. It is a space grounded in humanistic pluralism and is welcoming and open to all. Facilitated by former Quaker clerk Erling Hope, the series will be held in The Church’s library.

Further information about the Still, Small Voice experiment is available here

  • Erling Hope is a multi-media maker of things and experience-technician. For over thirty-five years, he has been exploring the influence of objects, images, and the built environment on the human capacity for reflection and enchantment. He has also been called a “Tourist Trapped in a Local’s Body” by his teenage child. Though it was intended as a snide insult, he has adopted this appellation as a keen honor and his life’s highest calling.
